Toe Tapping

It is always a big decision for me when I am choosing my pedicure color... I want something that will take me from summer to fall and I think I found the perfect color... Back From Vacation!!

Well we made it home safe and sound... Feeling well rested and relaxed and of course ready to shop!!! I will also be posting some great sales going on this weekend... I actually just ordered 2 great pairs of sandals from the Aldo website, wow there are some amazing deals right now... They are taking an additional 50% off the lowest price!! Yipeeee!! Life's A Beach

I won't be posting for the next week because I am going to be laying on the beach (with SPF 45!!) until Friday and I will have no internet access... But I will have lots to talk about next week including how to create the perfect beach hair as always done by Blake Lively... I am so excited to wear my new beach dresses, I bought a turquoise tube dress and a red floral tunic mini dress... Not to mention I can finally break in the extra large black and white stripe beach bag I bought last summer from Aldo... I decided to check out the F21 website and see what I could come up with in regards to my earlier post... In keeping with Louis Vuitton's Fall 2009 collection I found some great looks at affordable prices... I could spend hours searching through photos of my favorite designer's fashion shows past and present... I am absolutely in love with Louis Vuitton's Fall 2009 collection... Although I definitely can't afford it I am so inspired by it!! I wanted to share a few of my favorite looks straight off the Vuitton runway that we will be seeing everywhere this fall... Big bold statement necklaces are the must have jewelery right now, in big chunky beads or cool metallics, the bigger the better... Bright funky animal patterns in bold colors are not for the faint of heart but you can start off on a smaller scale with a great scarf or blouse, don't do this look from head to toe unless you are on the runway! And edgy accessories with lots of hardware are a staple for your fall wardrobe, get a studded handbag in a bright neon or go classic with black patent leather clutch... Don't be afraid to try out a trend, especially when buying accessories... You don't need to spend a fortune with stores like H&M and F21 offering all of these trends at a fraction of the designer price!

Isn't She Lovely

I don't always love Sienna Miller's fashion choices, but last night on the red carpet she looked absolutely radiant... Her mini dress and gold heels are perfection, and her hair and makeup are gorgeous... I love the loose waves in her hair and her bronze makeup gives her a beautiful glow... You can create this hair style easily with a thick barrel curling iron... Blow dry your hair with a round brush for volume then use the curling iron to curl the hair in different directions, it doesn't need to be perfect and this will create more movement... Finish with a medium hold hairspray or a gloss spray, run you fingers through your hair and you are red carpet ready!!

I Heart Drew

I love Drew Barrymore, she seems kind of quirky and fun loving which seems to translate quite often in her fashion choices... I came across this picture of her out and about in L.A. recently with these crazy sunglasses on, what do you think are they a fashion do or a don't? If anyone can pull this look off it's definitely her!!

Oh My Gosh

I have been using Gosh cosmetics for about a year now and I must say I really think they are fantastic... They are available at most Shoppers Drugmarts and the prices range from $4.99-$18.99... Gosh is a Denmark based company that is relatively new to North America, it just became available to us last summer... One of my favorite products is the extreme art liquid eyeliner, there are twelve amazing colors available and the tiny brush applicator makes them so easy to use... There is black or brown for a clean classic look and an array of colors from bright green to blue to purple for a fun trendy look... This product is semi-permanent so it won't smudge and it is easily removed with eye makeup remover... I have almost every color and I use them regularly on myself and clients, so be adventurous and try a bold color or a great metallic gold... Don't be shy, it's like jewellery for the eyelids!

Beach Bum

As summer keeps rolling on I am really trying to maintain my "faux glow" without looking orange and streaky... I am definitely not a sun worshipper but I want to look sun kissed at all times... I have tried all kinds of self tanners, from creams to sprays and gels as well as high priced ones and much lower priced drugstore brands... My favorite is actually Jergens Natural Glow Face & Body in medium and at $7.99 a bottle it is a total bargain... To give yourself the perfect tan always exfoliate your body first and make sure you are completely dry before you start... Apply the cream to your body in small circular motions to avoid streaking and apply sparingly to areas like the knees, ankles and elbows... Also apply it lightly to your face and blend the cream down your neck to keep the color even and don't forget to wash your hands otherwise you will have orange palms... Voila J-Lo Glow!!

Ode To The 90's

Any girl who grew up in the 90's remembers when the world as we knew it was taken over by the "supermodel"... I was mesmerized by their beauty, their big hair and perfectly polished makeup... They were larger than life in every way, I remember watching them march down the Versace runway on Fashion Television... This was a photograph taken by Peter Lindburgh for the Januray 1990 cover of Vogue... Did you have a favorite supermodel, mine was always Christy Turlington... In recent photos these women have aged beautifully, still inspiring and relevant...

I consider myself to be a very lucky girl, I absolutely love what I do... I am a freelance makeup artist and I specialize in wedding makeup... From spring to fall I am booked every weekend... Searching for Jackie O

I must have tried on 50 pairs of sunglasses yesterday and I came home with none! I think the problem was looking at this picture before I went on the hunt... I only had a few simple requirements, they must be a chic large round black pair that make me look as cool and sophisticated as Jackie O...Is that too much to ask? Apparently yes! Maybe the selections have been picked over with summer's end approaching... There was way too much bling and neon, these looks are fun but I wanted the ultimate classic... I am obsessed with giant sunglasses, the bigger the better and I usually buy them in 2's because I can never decide between tortoise shell or black... I love the ultra round frames, they are a huge trend this season and I find they work on all face shapes... You can't help but feel glamorous when you put on a pair and I must have them... and so my search will continue...

I need to make a trip to F21 this week, I was perusing the website and stumbled across these gorgeous chandelier earings... You can never have too many pairs and they are such a simple and affordable way to add personality to any outfit... I am partial to colorful bold earings,
but even a simple pair of gold hoops can look fabulous...
And for $5.80 a pair, how can you resist!!!

Sandal Lust

Maybe I should be looking at some fall wardrobe purchases but how can I possibly do that when I keep getting distracted by these GORGEOUS gladiator sandals at Aldo... Perhaps I could sneak one more pair into my closet without my husband noticing... I mean really I don't have gladiators in multi-colored snakeskin and they would go with alot of different outfits and they really are an investment... Don't you think?

Positively Purple

I know that eyeshadow in bright colors can be a scary thought for most of us, but the "it" color for fall 2009 is purple... Don't be afraid, there is a broad spectrum of beautiful shades and textures for you to choose from... Soft lavenders, bright purples or rich plums, keep them matte for daytime and try shimmery metallic for night... If you are not comfortable using eyeshadow try a deep mauve eyeliner or a burgundy tinted mascara... Try MAC Stars N' Rockets eyeshadow, it has just the right amount of shimmer and color and looks great on all skin tones...

Fringe Benefits

I came across this lovely gal while browsing the web this morning... I covet her dress, the shape and color are so pretty and paired with those boots... this is sheer perfection... I have a pair of tan suede fringe boots that are so coming out of the winter bin... This is a cute casual Saturday afternoon look... In my opinion this is bohemian chic done right...

Photos of Audrey Hepburn are constant inspiration for me as a makeup artist... She is perfection, her eyes, her lips, her skin... absolutely flawless... I love her signature winged black liquid eyeliner and defined eyebrows... When you are attempting this look remember less is more, keep it simple... Use a pretty berry matte lipstick, liquid liner and a coat of black mascara... Curl your lashes for extra volume and use a felt tip liquid liner, it is so easy to apply (CoverGirl has a great one for $7.99!)...
And remember the key to this look is fresh clean skin, just concealer and a little powder... Have fun channeling Audrey, I know I will :)

Reese's Pieces

I adore Reese Witherspoon's style! She always looks so put together and fresh without trying too hard... She dresses totally age and body appropriate, simple pieces like a scarf or statement necklace or great bag are just the right touches to her ensembles... I love that this mother of two in her thirties can make an afternoon of shopping or running errands look so unbelievably cool...

I'm Not Really A Waitress

In my never ending search for the perfect red polish I always go back to an OPI classic "I'm Not Really A Waitress"... It is just the right medium rich red with a hint of shimmer... Whether on your fingers or toes this color is beautiful and has an old Hollywood glamour feel to it... Red polish can be worn in any season, it is timeless... and always seal it with a top coat to keep the color from fading or chipping...

Liquid Kitty

My sister Kat is easily one of the most stylish gals I know...
She is not afraid to try out trends and rarely gets it wrong... I love how she puts outfits together, we will discuss outfit options in length... we are truly "girly girls"
This was a Saturday night out on the town and she is rocking a pair of liquid leggings and an adorable pink tunic... I LOVE this outfit, very Lauren Conrad!!

The little white dress, it is a summer staple... I love them in lace and crochet fabrics... So chic and sweet, just remember to add a little self tanner to your legs and a great pair of sandals... I have 3 white dresses and I wear them with opaque leggings and boots in the cooler weather... In my opinion Kate Hudson always pulls off this bohemian chic look effortlessly...

Summer Scarves

I am always inspired by celebrity's everyday style... I wear scarves all year long, they add a little color and style to everyday t-shirts and jeans... I must have over 100 of them!! Is it ok to wear a scarf in the summer? I say absolutely :)

Weekend Purchase

Well I never made it to F21 today... but I did manage to make one purchase this weekend a MAC cream eyeshadow palette... I love MAC eyeshadows, they are my absolute favorite to work with ... I can't wait to play with it tomorrow!!

Gloss-aholic

Joe Fresh has a great affordable makeup line and I must say I am especially loving their lipgloss ... and anyone who knows me knows I LOVE lipgloss... I remember buying my first tube of LipSmackers at age 10 and I have never looked back...
The texture and staying power is great and even better there is no funny taste... The packaging is so pretty and it's clear so you can see the true color you are getting... and the long wand with a tiny brush applicator makes it so easy to apply with no messy goop left over... Lipgloss is a must have in your purse, even if you have 5 minutes in the morning, mascara and gloss are your best friends... and for $6 there is no excuse!! There are 12 beautiful shades from shiny Clear to a rich Bordeaux and everything in between... Some of my faves are Bare, Peach and Candy... You can find Joe Cosmetics at any Great Canadian Superstores and some Fortinos are carrying it as well ... Happy Glossing :)

Damsel In Distress

I am obsessed with these jeans, they are Forever 21's Katy Frayed Skinny Jean and they are $35!!! I am still loving the distressed denim trend and I am a skinny jean fanatic, this combo and color is brilliant... Not to mention the best news is that they finally opened F21 in my city (sound the angels singing) .... I have become a bit of an addict, I have been 5 times in a 2 weeks ... and going back tomorrow!

I totally love this look and I hardly ever wear it in the summer ... Cameron Diaz always looks casually cool and this just reminds me to pull out my camel flat boots and throw them on before summer's end ... What do you think, is it a fashion do?

I just love everything about summer dresses, whether they are paired with a great pair of gladiator flats or sky high wedge sandals they just look effortless ... Throw on a bangle and some great earings and VOILA adorable!!!
