Coral Crush

I was totally inspired by these pics of Lauren Conrad in her $168 coral Joe's jeans, I picked mine up at Old Navy for $25 last week ( a little more affordable for my budget!)... This is the perfect way to wear them before sandal season, with a cute pair of heels and a cozy sweater. Gray is a wonderful neutral to pair with any of your brights and looks totally chic and classic! I added the turquoise cuff for a fun pop of colour and went for a top knot like Lauren's do... What do you think of how I styled my jeans, are they a do or a don't for you?

Make Me Up

I'm often asked what makeup I wear so I thought I would share my daily beauty routine... This takes me about ten minutes to achieve a natural but polished everyday look, here is my morning makeup ritual in seven easy steps start to finish:

1. Cover Girl light concealer stick~ blotted under my eyes and on any blemishes with a q-tip
2. Curl my eyelashes with a Shu Umera eyelash curler (my absolute fave!)
3. Shroom by MAC eyeshadow~ pat onto my eyelid then sweep up to the brow bone softly to highlight
3. Magic Ink black liquid eyeliner by Benefit~ create a cat eye, lining just the top lash line and slightly extending out starting thin and ending thicker
4. Teddy (copper brown) kohl eyeliner by MAC~ apply along the lower lash line approximately 3/4 across and blend line with a q-tip
5. L'Oreal Black Voluminous Mascara (amazing!)~ Two coats on the top lashes and one coat on the bottom
6. Gingerly (peachy pink) blush by MAC~ apply to the apples of my cheeks
7. Pink Poodle lipglass by MAC~ apply evenly to the lips

Voila, my everyday look! All of these products are available at Shoppers Drug Mart and MAC Cosmetics at The Bay.

And The Winners Are...

Did you watch The Oscars last night? I certainly did! It was fashion at it's finest on the red carpet, there was a ton of sparkle and one shoulder styles and we saw a lot of white and nude tones. One thing that seemed to be lacking was major jewelry, it was all about sublety no big statement pieces. I have a ton of favourites but I am narrowing it down to my top five ladies... I loved Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace, Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton, Rooney Mara in Givenchy, Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford (the cape was spectacular!) and Jessica Chastain in an amazing Alexander McQueen... They all looked absolutely stunning, from the shoes to the hair and makeup... Who was your best dressed last night?

Mrs. Green Jeans

I recently stopped in Old Navy and found these amazing green jeans on sale for $25, so naturally I had to buy them in coral too! I have been wanting to add a few fun pairs of bright coloured denim to my wardrobe but I didn't want to spend a fortune... I also had an additional 15% off coupon to sweeten the deal. I have worn them with a charcoal sweater and gray boots to a casual dinner and this was an outfit I wore to a photo shoot, I loved pairing them with the leopard shoes to add some fun to the ensemble... Would you wear green denim too?

Laced With Style

While perusing the web the other day for fashion inspiration I came across this photo of Kate Hudson at Coachella and instantly wished for summer...Alas that is a little way down the road so I figured I could settle for a lace skirt ensemble like Kate's instead. This is a great litte cream dress from H&M that I bought last spring for $34.90 and I layered a thin knit black sweater from Old Navy (totally ancient!) over top. The finishing touches were my black opaque tights and black suede booties and this really pretty black and cream beaded necklace that I bought at The Bay on sale for $6... What do you think of this look? Are you still into lace?

The Countdown Begins...

I'm totally on countdown for The Oscars on Sunday... This is truly "The Superbowl Of Fashion" I find the red carpet more exciting than the show itself though! I can't wait to see what the starlets are wearing, oh the gowns, the shoes, the hair, the makeup... I can go on and on... And I will! I am looking forward to seeing Michelle Williams, Angelina Jolie, Zoe Saldana and Madonna just to name a few. I think the gowns we are going to see will range from bold bright colours to muted soft pastels to rich earthy tones... The makeup will be natural and soft and we will definitely see some ladies sporting bold lip colour in deep reds and pinks. The hair will be shiny and have lots of movement, soft waves and non-fussy side swept chignons will dominate... In anticipation of the big day I decided to post five of my favourite Oscar looks from years past... Who are you excitd to see on the red carpet? And I would love to know who has your vote for best dressed from previous years?

Chic In A Cinch!

Layering a sweater over a dress is currently an obsession of mine... It is such a fun and frugal way to create a great winter look straight from your closet, I added a few coral accents to brighten it up with a skinny woven belt from H&M for $6 and a cute coral bracelet from The Bay for $10. If you find your sweater is a little bulky try adding a belt, this is a totally flattering silhouette and you can use a belt of any width to cinch up your waist with...What do you think of this look? On a side note I'm also wearing my awesome new ankle wedge boots from Aldoshoes.com that were an absolute steal ($45 from $140) They're still offering an extra 50% off all sale boots, this is the time to snatch up a few pairs for now and next winter for a fraction of the price.

Pink + Brown = Fabulous

I have been trying to pair colours together that I normally wouldn't, I think this is a really great way to maximize your wardrobe... I've had this hot pink chiffon dress in my closet for months and thought I would try and pair it up with different shades of brown. My usual go-to black opaque tights and blazer were simply not what I wanted to go for today and I'm quite happy with the way this ensemble turned out... I opted for brown because it is still a neutral and I played with different shades to add some interest to this look. I am going to try pairing browns and greys with my brights instead of using black this week and see how many great combinations I can come up with!! What do you think of this colour combo, is it a do or a don't for you?

Mad For Plaid

I have had this Burberry knock-off scarf for years and just came across it while packing up some of my winter scarves... It was like finding a hidden treasure! I knew I had to wear it immediately and I wanted to keep the rest of my ensemble neutral to let the scarf be the stand-out piece. My new khaki skinny cargos I bought over the weekend at Joe Fresh for $9.94!! So of course I bought them in navy for that price. I love this whole look, it's simple and stylish... A perfect weekend outfit!

One Scarf Five Ways!

I am a scarf addict, I admit it and I'm not ashamed! Honestly I probably have more than 50 and I wear them all year long, lightweight ones in the warmer months and cozy ones in the winter... I find that I'm often asked how to tie a scarf so I decided to show you 5 easy and cute ways to sport your scarf today! I'm wearing a simple green pashmina style scarf in these photos...

1. The Loop ~ fold the scarf in half, wrap the folded scarf around your neck and pull the loose ends through the loop and tighten
2. The Knot ~ loop the scarf around your neck once or twice then knot the loose ends
3. The Double Wrap ~ wrap the scarf around your neck twice and let the fringe hang loose
4.The Infinity ~ tie the ends of the scarf together in a knot to make a circle and loop it around your neck a few times
5. The Wrap ~ wrap the scarf around your neck once and let the ends hang loose

How do you rock your scarf I'd love to hear!

Bang On

I was totally inspired when I saw Rachel McAdams recently sporting blunt bangs on the red carpet (although her's were apparently clip-ons!)... I have had the "side bang" going for a while now and thought this would be a fun change to try. Bangs are an easy way to change up your look without chopping off your hair and if you're not crazy about them in a few short weeks they are long enough to clip back and grow out... If you are apprehensive about the blunt fringe then opt for a longer side bang, they work with every face shape and hair type. A few extra minutes with your blow dryer and round brush or your flat iron is well worth it ladies! Are you into the fringe this season too? What do you think of my new do?

It's Electrifying!

Ok ladies, regardless of your style whether you're laid back chic or downtown cool it's time to add a few neon pieces to wake up your wardrobe for spring-summer... Neon pinks, yellows (pictured here), oranges and greens are the hottest hues of the moment and whether it's a sexy neon dress, a bold flirty blouse or stand out pumps and a fun purse you can work this trend... Pair your brights with white or black pieces for a modern look or simply try a neon necklace or bracelet to spruce up your neutral work day dress... However you wear this trend, wear it with confidence and be ready to turn some heads this season!

Happy Heart Day

Happy Valentines Day to my fellow fashionistas!! In keeping with the Valentine theme today I decided to try out a fun date night look and came up with another pink and red combo... This dress is definitely more of an orange-red which pops perfectly against the hot pink tights and cherry red patent pumps, I added fun earings and a simple black purse to complete the look. I will take any excuse to get dresed up and my hubby is well aware of that hence a lovely dinner out tonight is part of his plan (yipee!)So ladies my question to you is... What will your Valentine date night ensemble be, pj's or a sexy red dress??
